The 4 ways sound affects us was interesting to me because I have found myself feeling all the ways that he described because of various sounds before, particularly in relation to the negative effects annoying sounds can have on us. A lot of the information in this video was irrelevant to me (such as how to include appropriate sounds for your business). However, I could use this information when planning my classroom environment. There would obviously be certain sounds I would want to avoid. I could also use the information about music to encourage certain reactions from my students (such as when reading them a mystery, playing music that would make them feel suspense). I could also play soothing music, or birdsong to encourage them to work peacefully. In addition, I need to be aware that some students will be more sensitive to sound than others, and might need headphones to work productively.
I am extremely glad that I watched Mr. Lee's video! This was great information for me to have in case I am ever in a classroom that does not have an interactive whiteboard supplied by the school. Obviously, teachers cannot afford to pay for their own Smartboards if their school doesn't provide them with one, but they could afford to pay for this software themselves. This idea makes it possible for all teachers (at least those with computers) to use an interactive whiteboard to improve their instruction. This would also be a great tool for students who were interested in this type of technology. Teachers could encourage their students to use this type of software when studying, completing projects, etc. It's another great way to engage students in their learning-and it's very affordable!
Though I agree with this man's opinion that technology could make it possible for everyone to have a free education, I don't think that he provided a clear way to make that happen in reality. The fact remains that people do still want to make a profit off the things that they create (online and otherwise) and that this is part of the world we live in. It is not everyone's mission to provide free education to every child in the world. That would be amazing, of course, but it is not how things work, and I'm not sure it ever will be. However, the internet has already made it easier for those from less fortunate backgrounds to have access to equal materials. The example he gave of Encarta encyclopedias and Wikipedia summed it up perfectly-what you used to have to pay to access is now free for anyone who can access the internet. This is an amazing thing. I hope that in the future we continue making strides to more free access for all students.

This video did a great job of showing in a quick, lighthearted way how much of an impact each and every person in our world can have simply by going online and participating in all the various things that are available through the internet. Sites like reddit.com, boingboing.com, etc. make it possible for all of us (anyone with access to a computer) to have a voice in events that are occurring in our world. If used properly, (such as to help an organization like Greenpeace with an important cause) it can be a life changing, or even life saving, tool. The downside to this democracy and availability to all is that some people use the internet inappropriately to hurt others. As with everything, there are good and bad points. As a teacher, it will be important for me to instill a sense of importance in being digitally responsible to all my students.

"Did You Know" was both exciting and a little scary to me because I am not a naturally technologically-inclined person, yet technology is the future (to sound extremely cliche). It is strange to think how rapidly technology has taken over modern society. As teachers, we need to use this to our advantage or we will lose our students. Today's students are fascinated by technology, and learn better when they are allowed to work with it. Also, judging by the "Did You Know" video, their future success in careers and otherwise will depend on being technologically adept.
My experience with computers in the classroom is somewhat limited so far. Last semester I was in a 4th grade class, and they had four computers in their class. I saw them used for intervention strategies such as SuccessMaker, Earobics, etc. There were also a few times that the students used the internet to research for projects (such as to find biographical information on certain people). The students mostly worked on computers when they went to the computer lab once or twice a week, and I am unsure of what they did during that time. This semester I am in a Kindergarten class, and the only thing the students have used the computers for is to use intervention games such as Starfall and Earobics.

I agree with Arthur Benjamin's argument that probability and statistics should replace calculus as the ending/focal point for mathematics education to a certain extent. I do agree that MOST students would find probability and statistics more useful, easier to comprehend, and more interesting than calculus. However, I believe that students of a certain age (juniors or seniors in high school) should be allowed to choose whether they want to focus on calculus or probability and statistics, instead of teachers, school systems, etc. deciding that for them. As "almost adults" they should receive some say in what is important mathematically for them to know. I would be interested in learning more about Mr. Benjamin's claim that students understanding more about probability and statistics would lead to a more stable, prosperous economy in our country. I am not enough of a math expert to know if that is likely to be true or not, and would like to hear more opinions and research about that.

I believe that computers should have a greater role than what I have seen thus far in the classroom, especially in the intermediate grades in which I might be teaching. They should be used for the things we are learning about in our class-wikis, blogs, voicethreads, etc. I think this is important because it is what students are interested in, and it would get them excited about learning.
